"Prismed Refraction" Installation by Joe King
The Visual inspiration for the installation is “Prismed Refraction”. Fixed cameras stream the performance content into several tv screens which are obscured by semi transparent film meant to distort light as if through facets. Behind this improvised video wall projectors cast the same image on the walls and ceiling after passing through a series of first surface mirrors causing the image and its borders to distort and suggest the illusion of light passing through the screens. Stage/room lighting will move in primary colors which in turn change the video feed and the feed will add in digital effects that cause the images to split RGB along with the music in real time. The goal is to create a static installation that expands the environment of the space and enhances the performance with a visual feedback of the performers.
